Purpose of "Allow NAT port forwarding" in IP configuration

« Go Back
Information
The Allow NAT port forwarding setting under Server>Networking>IP Configuration alters the way Switchvox reports its IP address during SIP and other signaling in the following ways:
  • If set to Yes, Switchvox requires a WAN IP address or externally facing hostname to be entered in the associated field.
  • If set to Yes, Switchvox will report its WAN IP address on any signaling requested from an IP that is not included in the Switchvox's local network.
  • If set to No, Switchvox will always report its internal IP address on all signaling regardless of the originating IP address requesting contact.
This setting can be helpful in troubleshooting cases with one-way audio on external sites connected over a VPN tunnel or MPLS connection.

If a phone connected over a VPN has audio issues, you may need to add that phone's LAN network to the Additional Local Networks field under Advanced options on the IP Configuration page.
